The Names are precontained analogously in the divine simplicity of the One since He is the cause and creator of everything. However, because the One transcends everything and is unparticipated, the actual creaturely participation of the One occurs indirectly through the Divine Names themselves.
I don't know if it is really correct to create the analogy between the Seraphim and the self-complete Henads, or the Proclean gods. Since these Henads transcend Existential-Being, Infinity, Intelligence, Life, etc. The Seraphim do not sit beside God as omnipotent, omniprovident and supra-existential gods, or do they?Tomas Juanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07065692737743659023noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6391623422353467358.post-79940878055133593332021-02-23T08:36:52.418-08:002021-02-23T08:36:52.418-08:00Hey, this is great!Hey, this is great!William Castlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17444134490137937281noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6391623422353467358.post-61185086987250855452018-08-20T07:24:36.824-07:002018-08-20T07:24:36.824-07:00Hello

In the first place, Aquinas would not have had access to this text; but more importantly, the common root of this Iamblichean doctrine with respect to angels and the similar doctrine in Aquinas is the status of the henads prior to Being, and hence prior to essence. The henads are already supra-essential for Iamblichus, and this structure of the angelic manifolds is simply an ontic echo of the structure of the henadic manifold.

To exist prior to Being means that there can be no species to which the Gods belong; each is sui generis. This is a doctrine which reached Aquinas much more loudly and clearly, albeit in bowdlerized form, than the faint echoes of Neoplatonic angelology.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6391623422353467358.post-55925321852418735642011-01-05T00:04:22.071-08:002011-01-05T00:04:22.071-08:00"if we are to form our life on the model of t..."if we are to form our life on the model of the Cherubim" ...
